To do this, we will use as an example a Space Marine <strong>Reiver<\/strong>of the Warhammer 40k game.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This tutorial about <strong>how to paint black armor,<\/strong>will allow us for example, to paint any of the following <strong>chapters or factions of Space Marines<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Black Templars<\/li><li>Raven Guard<\/li><li>Deathwatch<\/li><li>Iron Hands<\/li><li>Black Legion<\/li><li>Ravenwing (2nd Company of the Dark Angels)<\/li><li>Black Dragons<\/li><li>Black Consuls<\/li><li>Consecrators<\/li><li>Black Inculpators<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>And having said that&#8230; Let&#8217;s start with this tutorial about <strong>how to paint black using airbrush.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Choosing the contrast of the armor<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Before I started preparing this tutorial, <strong>I launched a survey on Instagram, so that you could decide the type of black armor you wanted me to show in the tutorial.<\/strong> On the one hand we had the option of a black armor, with less contrast, and on the other hand a high contrast black armor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After the survey and <strong>more than 230 votes,<\/strong>the winner, by a big difference, was the <strong>black armor with high contrast<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/pintureando.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/Screenshot_20200615-142712-592x1024.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3106\" width=\"296\" height=\"512\" srcset=\"http:\/\/pintureando.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/Screenshot_20200615-142712-592x1024.png 592w, http:\/\/pintureando.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/Screenshot_20200615-142712-173x300.png 173w, http:\/\/pintureando.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/Screenshot_20200615-142712-768x1328.png 768w, http:\/\/pintureando.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/Screenshot_20200615-142712-888x1536.png 888w, http:\/\/pintureando.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/Screenshot_20200615-142712.png 1080w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 296px) 100vw, 296px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>So as you&#8217;ve chosen, <strong>we&#8217;ll see how to paint a black armor with high contrast.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On the other side, if you prefer <strong>painting a black armor with a lower contrast<\/strong> (and that will look darker), it is very simple, you will only have to skip a few steps of this tutorial (not painting the lighter colors), and painting over a smaller surface with the airbrush.<\/p>\n\n\n<h2><!--EndFragment-->Primer<\/h2>\n\n\n<p>As you could imagine, we will print the miniature using black. As in this case will be a <strong>Black Templars Space Marine,<\/strong>I will paint the shoulder pad <strong>white.<\/strong> To do this I have used the airbrush to paint the left shoulder pad using <a href=\"https:\/\/www.frikland.com\/tienda\/index.php?id_product=3040300970&amp;controller=product&amp;search_query=71001&amp;results=2\">White Model Air.<\/a> As you can see, I have applied more paint over the top of the shoulder pad, to achieve a slight gradient.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" src=\"http:\/\/pintureando.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/IMG_20200612_182919-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3130\" srcset=\"http:\/\/pintureando.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/IMG_20200612_182919-1024x768.jpg 1024w, http:\/\/pintureando.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/IMG_20200612_182919-300x225.jpg 300w, http:\/\/pintureando.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/IMG_20200612_182919-768x576.jpg 768w, http:\/\/pintureando.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/IMG_20200612_182919-1536x1152.jpg 1536w, http:\/\/pintureando.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/IMG_20200612_182919.jpg 1800w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Step 6 &#8211; Edge Highlighting<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>But we&#8217;re not done yet! To finish this black armor, we&#8217;ll highlight the edges of the miniature.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To do this, I recommend using a wet palette, in my case I have used the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.redgrassgames.com\/everlasting-wet-palette\/\"> RedGrassGames wet palette.<\/a> Thanks to it we will be able to keep our painting always in a perfect dilution, in addition to being able to mix colors and tones for those highlights.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" src=\"http:\/\/pintureando.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/IMG_20200613_123443-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3133\" srcset=\"http:\/\/pintureando.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/IMG_20200613_123443-1024x768.jpg 1024w, http:\/\/pintureando.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/IMG_20200613_123443-300x225.jpg 300w, http:\/\/pintureando.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/IMG_20200613_123443-768x576.jpg 768w, http:\/\/pintureando.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/IMG_20200613_123443-1536x1152.jpg 1536w, http:\/\/pintureando.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/IMG_20200613_123443.jpg 1800w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition, I also recommend using a good brush. For this edge highlighting I used the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.redgrassgames.com\/miniature-painting-brushes\/\">00 brush from RedGrassGames<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" src=\"http:\/\/pintureando.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/IMG_20200613_133830-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3135\" srcset=\"http:\/\/pintureando.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/IMG_20200613_133830-1024x768.jpg 1024w, http:\/\/pintureando.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/IMG_20200613_133830-300x225.jpg 300w, http:\/\/pintureando.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/IMG_20200613_133830-768x576.jpg 768w, http:\/\/pintureando.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/IMG_20200613_133830-1536x1152.jpg 1536w, http:\/\/pintureando.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/IMG_20200613_133830.jpg 1800w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>To <strong>highlight this armor,<\/strong>we will first use <a href=\"https:\/\/www.frikland.com\/tienda\/index.php?id_product=3040300856&amp;controller=product\">Neutral Grey Model Color.<\/a> Later, in the wet palette we can mix this Neutral Grey with a little <a href=\"https:\/\/www.frikland.com\/tienda\/index.php?id_product=3040300815&amp;controller=product\">White Model Color,<\/a>on areas where we want to give it a stronger tone of light. And finally, you can use <a href=\"https:\/\/www.frikland.com\/tienda\/index.php?id_product=3040300815&amp;controller=product\">pure White,<\/a> in all the corners of the armor to generate even more contrast.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Here we see the <strong>result <\/strong>after applying these highlights.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\"
