In this tutorial we will see how to paint an intense green armor step by step<\/strong> , using an airbrush and then making some touch-ups with a brush.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This intense green is ideal for fantasy and science fiction miniatures, and in this particular case, I will use it to paint a Space Marine from the Salamanders chapter, from the Warhammer 40k game<\/strong> .<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Let’s Start!<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Miniature customization<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

As you can see, this miniature has been personalized with special bits. For this unique look I have chosen to use the Spellcrow<\/strong> bits. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The shoulder pads<\/strong> that I have used: “ Salamanders \/ Dragons Knights Shoulder Pads (ver. 1)<\/a> “<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the other hand, the tabard<\/strong> that I have used has been the one that comes in the kit Salamander \/ Dragons – Tabards<\/a> .<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Primer<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Firstly, a gray primer<\/strong> will be applied, using Hobby Paint Spray Gray (28.011)<\/a> or Surface Primer Gray (70,601)<\/a> if using airbrush. Below, you can see one of the miniatures that will be painted after applying the primer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the following steps, we will use the airbrush<\/strong> . A mix of Sick Green Game Air (72.729)<\/a> and Dark Green Game Air (72.728)<\/a> , will be applied to the entire miniature. The mixing ratio will be 4 parts of Sick Green to 3 parts of Dark Green<\/strong> .<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Scorpena Green Game Air (72.732)<\/a> will be applied to the highest areas of the miniature<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To finish with the airbrush<\/strong>, Light Livery Green Game Air (72.733)<\/a> will be applied, this time in a very controlled and diluted way<\/strong> , focusing only on very specific points<\/strong> of the miniature (maximum light areas<\/strong>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Washes<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

A wash is applied all over the miniature, using the following mixture and proportions:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

– 2 parts – Black Wash Game Wash<\/a> (73.201)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

– 3 parts – Green Game Wash<\/a> (73.205)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

– 6 parts – Thinner Medium<\/a> (70.524)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

– 8 parts – Flow improver<\/a> (71.362)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

All those products are mixed and applied in a controlled way <\/strong>over the entire miniature. Thanks to this mixture, you will get a fantastic wash<\/strong> that will settle only in the nooks and crannies in a simple way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Advice<\/strong>: When the mixture is being applied, it is recommended to use another brush with only Flow Improver<\/strong> over the maximum light areas. That way, the wash disappears from the higher areas and remains only in the nooks and crannies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Edge Highlighting<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Once the wash is dry, we will begin edge highlighting of the armor. For this, the RedGrassGames brush #00<\/a> is a great choice, as well as a wet palette<\/a> to be able to dilute each color correctly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Once the wash is dry, a first edge highlighting will be done<\/strong> along all edges of the miniature, using Lime Green Model Color (70.827)<\/a> .<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A second and more selective edge highlighting will be done, this time only on the corners, using a mixture of Lime Green Model Color (70.827)<\/a> and Ice Yellow Model Color (70.858)<\/a> .<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To finish this armor<\/strong>, only small points of maximum brightness<\/strong> are painted on all these edges and edges, with a mixture of Lime Green Model Color<\/a> (70.827) and White Model Color<\/a> (70.951).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
