This tutorial shows how to paint a plasma gun with an orange OSL effect, using Vallejo’s fluo colors and inks. A Space Wolves Primaris Hellblaster has been used for the example. This orange color has been chosen because it is the complementary color to blue, so it contrasts very well with the Space Wolves armor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Weapon preparation<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The metallic parts of the weapon will have been painted previously. The rest of the weapon is painted using Model Color Black 70.950<\/a> , and then it is outlined using Model Color Neutral Grey 70.992<\/a> .<\/p>\n\n\n\n

All the corners and edges of the weapon are painted using Model Color White 70.951<\/a> .<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Apply 2-3 thin coats of Model Color White 70.951<\/a> over the core of the plasma weapon This will be the base for the lighting effect.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Airbrush<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

In the following steps the airbrush will be used to achieve the luminous effect. Game Air Dead White 72.701 is applied around the plasma core. We want to achieve a very fine gradient, so it has been diluted in the following proportion: 3 drops of Dead White, 4 of Airbrush Thinner<\/a> and 1 of Flow Improver<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Game Ink Yellow<\/a> 72.085 is applied on all areas where we have previously painted white.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A mixture of Game Ink Yellow<\/a> 72.085 with a pinch of Game Ink Red<\/a> 72.086 is made to obtain an orange ink It is applied around the plasma core to achieve an orange hue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Final details<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Using the brush, apply diluted Model Color White<\/a> 70.951 to the lower part of the plasma core so that it remains in the nooks and crannies We apply this white on some edges of the armor where the OSL reflects too.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Model Color Fluorescent Yellow<\/a> 70.730 mixed with a little Game Color Moon Yellow<\/a> 72.005 is used in the lower part of the core.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On top of the plasma core, Model Color Fluorescent Orange 70.733 mixed with a pinch of Game Color Moon Yellow<\/a> 72.005 is applied to increase the intensity. This mixture is also applied to the parts of the armor where we applied the white color in the previous step.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Using a very diluted Model Color White<\/a>70.951, a fine line is applied very carefully on the lower part of the plasma core.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
