This tutorial will show you how to paint an Ice Energy Axe using the new Game Color range. For the tutorial we have used a miniature from the Cthonian Beserks pack from the Votann Leagues (Games Workshop).

Lets start!

Prime the miniature in black using Hobby Paint Spray 28.012 or Surface Primer Black 70.602.

Apply Game Color Turquoise 72.024 to the blade.

Stipple the blade with Game Color Aquamarine 72.119, leaving the area near the cutting edge unpainted.

Using a mixture of equal parts Game Color Turquoise 72.024 and Game Color Aquamarine 72.119, apply another layer of stippling near the cutting edge of the axe to blend the transition into the previous layer.

Paint the inner side of the axe blade with a mixture of Game Color Aquamarine 72.119 and Game Color Sunrise Blue 72.118 to create small energy rays.

Repeat the previous step with Game Color Sunrise Blue 72.118 thinned with water, reducing the area of application.

Paint the inner side of the blade with Game Color Dead White 72.001 thinned with water to create a great contrast.

To create a glowing effect on the handle of the axe, paint the parts near the blade with a mixture of Game Color Abyssal Turquoise 72.120 and Game Color Turquoise 72.024.

Enhance the edges of these areas with a mixture of Game Color Aquamarine 72.119 and Game Color Sunrise Blue 72.118.

To create an even greater contrast, paint the edge of the axe with a mixture of Game Color Abyssal Turquoise 72.120 and Game Color Turquoise 72.024.

And now we have a finished energy axe!
